PYE Registration Guide
Dear Members and Friends of the Union of Catholic Apostolate,
Introduction
This guide will provide information on the registration procedure for the Pallottine Youth Encounter (PYE) to be held in Melbourne in July 2008, in conjunction with the World Youth Day (WYD) 2008 to be held in Sydney.
The Pallottine Youth Encounter aims to bring young Pallottines together in the spirit of St. Vincent Pallotti, in preparation for WYD 2008. The PYE in Melbourne will be from 4th July to 13th July, and will include visits to places of interest in Melbourne, youth activities, Masses, talks, prayer sessions, discussions, etc. From 10th to 13th July, we will also join in activities organised by the Melbourne Archdiocese in the Days in the Dioceses (DID) programme for WYD 2008. The detailed programme for the PYE can be found here and will continually be updated.
Accommodation
Participants will be staying at two main locations during the PYE. From 4th July to 8th July, we will be staying at Casa Pallotti and Pallotti College at Millgrove, where accommodation will be single rooms, double rooms for couples, and also dormitory style rooms. Millgrove is about 1.5 hours drive from Melbourne City.
From 9th July to 13th July, we will be staying at Syndal, where St. Christopher's Parish is located. Participants will be staying in the homes of parishioners where possible, or in the school and church hall depending on the total number of participants.
Participants are encouraged to stay at the accommodation arranged by the PYE organisers, but if you require hotel or other forms of accommodation, you will need to arrange such accommodation on your own.
We strongly recommend all pilgrims bring their own winter sleeping bags. There will be an overnight vigil with the Holy Father on Saturday 19th July in Randwick Racecourse where all the youth will be spending the night in the open.
Meals
During the Pallottine Youth Encounter at Milgrove, breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.
During the Pallottine Youth Encounter for Melbourne Days in the Dioceses, breakfast will be provided by your host family. A simple packed lunch will be provided by the PYE organisers. Dinner will NOT be provided because we expect the pilgrims to be away from St Christopher's parish during the day attending the various programmes.
During WYD in Sydney, all lunch, and dinner will be provided. Breakfast is only provided for those who registered with accommodation included.
Costs
There are a few options to choose from.
A) For overseas participants, the cost of PYE 2008 is AUD 250.00. This includes all accommodation in Melbourne, activities, transport (from Melbourne airport, for organised activities, and to Sydney for WYD) and some meals. This cost does not include the cost of WYD 2008 in Sydney. The cost in Sydney is either AUD 395 (with simple accommodation provided by the organisers) or AUD 335 (where you find and pay for your own accommodation, whilst still belonging to the PYE group). This component of the cost is paid direct to Sydney when you register with the official WYD 08 web site.
This means that the full cost with all accommodation provided for both PYE Melbourne and WYD Sydney is either AUD 645 or AUD 585, depending on whether accommodation in Sydney is selected.
B) For local pilgrims who do not intend to proceed to Sydney for WYD 08, and who only want to participate in the full PYE at Milgrove and Melbourne DID, the cost is AUD 250.
C) For local pilgrims who wish only to join the PYE programme for the Melbourne DID component, the cost is AUD 50.
D) For local pilgrims who wish only to join the PYE programme for the Melbourne DID component, and travel up with the group to join WYD 08 in Sydney, the cost will be AUD 155 (Melbourne component and bus to Sydney) plus either AUD 395 (simple accommodation in Sydney) or AUD 335 (own accommodation in Sydney).
E) For local pilgrims who require bus transport back to Melbourne from Sydney, please include AUD 105 to the above costs.

Registration
Please register directly with Sydney WYD 2008 first. This is essential for overseas pilgrims in order to obtain a 3 month VISA for entry into Australia. During the Sydney WYD registration process, please make sure you join one of two groups:
If you wish to have simple accommodation provided for you, please join Pallottine Youth Encounter, group number 719.
If you wish to find and pay for your own accommodation, please join Pallottine Youth Encounter (own accommodation) group 3086.
