FAQ
When will the pilgrims need Homestay accommodation?
The pilgrims will arrive at St Christopher's on:
Wednesday 9th July 2008
The pilgrims will depart St Christopher's for Sydney on:
Sunday 13th July 2008
Pilgrims will need accommodation for
4 nights (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th July, 2008).
Please note Victorian schools resume for Term 3 on Monday 14th July, 2008, so the pilgrims will be with you for the last few days of the school holidays.
Where will the pilgrims be coming from?
Pilgrims will be from overseas, interstate (including remote and rural areas) and local Melbourne parishes and schools.
The Pallottine Youth Experience begins at the Pallottine property in Millgrove (1.5 hours drive from Melbourne). Pilgrims will bus straight from the airport to Millgrove where they will participate in a variety of activities between 4th - 9th of July, 2008.
They will arrive at St Christopher's by bus sometime on 9th July. There is a place on the registration form for you to indicate if you will be able to pick up your pilgrims from St Christopher's that day. If you can't, we will provide transport to your home.
What do I need to provide for pilgrims?
The pilgrims will be travelling light and will have sleeping bags. They will require only simple accommodation which could be floor space, e.g. in your lounge room.
We ask that you provide a simple breakfast, cold or hot, each morning the pilgrims are with you.
While in Melbourne, we expect the pilgrims will be busy attending activities run by St Christopher's and the Melbourne archdiocese, so they will be out and about much of the time.
Meals other than breakfast will be provided at St Christopher's or in the city at Days In the Dioceses activities.
Can I nominate how many pilgrims I have and specify whether they are female or male pilgrims?
Yes, you are asked on the form how many pilgrims you can accommodate, with a minimum of two specified. We will be accommodating up to 300 pilgrims so please be as generous as you can. You can nominate whether you prefer to billet female or male pilgrims.
What age will the pilgrims be?
Most pilgrims are young adults aged between 18 and 35 years. If we have any pilgrims aged under 18 years, we will make special arrangements for their accommodation.
