The following pages will give you information about our parish Social Life. There are activities designed for the purpose of socialising and finding fellowship with other parishioners in a club or activity.
Although all the activities have an underlying Christian spirit, the focus is on sharing thoughts, ideas and activities.
An important but simple event is morning tea after the 10.30am Mass on Sundays.
Graham Perrin, together with members of the parish Social Committee, organises a dance or other family entertainment on a bi-monthly basis. This links in with special functions, such as a Gala Night of Entertainment featuring Hilary Henshall and her pianist taking us on a journey from Tin-Pan Alley to Broadway, a performance of the Monash Chorale, and a Gospel Concert in Memoriam of September 11th.
Graham Perrin and Jack Krohn are the ones to contact.
Nature and aims of this group: Breakfast is provided for the men of this parish from 7.00am until 8.30am on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding January), in the parish Tennis Clubrooms. Occasionally, breakfast will be held at other times to suit working men and those who find the usual early start inconvenient.
A small charge is made to cover the costs.
This occasion offers an opportunity for fellowship, shared discussion on a topical matter and ends with shared prayer. Through this is fostered an enhanced community spirit and friendship.
Our Pre-School community has been operating for over 10 years providing a place where young children and their mothers (or carers) can meet together in a relaxed and friendly environment.
There are no enrolment procedures, no planned activities and the only cost is an occasional optional donation to cover the tea and coffee and fruit for the children.
The group provides an opportunity for mothers to meet with other mothers to share their joys and concerns and their shared experience of motherhood. The benefit of this community for the children is enormous as they get to learn how to socialise with other children before they go to Kindergarten or School.
For those members who go on to enrol at St. Christopher's School there is the added advantage that they will start school with a group of friends already made.
23 mothers with 30+ children visited the group from time to time during 2003.
If you want to know more about us just come along to the Tennis Clubhouse any Monday or Friday morning during the school year. Everyone is welcome.
Nature and aims of this group: St Christopher’s Seniors' Group has been established for approximately 10 years.
Outings such as Christmas-in-July luncheon, Christmas dinners at local facilities, speakers after special Masses and, in the past, occasional bus excursions have been held. Attendance varies but we average between 35-45 persons. Age group is from 60+-early nineties. Anointing Masses are held regularly (9 times a year) with school students participating.
Nature and aims of this group: The Italian Club gathers every Thursday, aiming to bring cheer and enjoyment to older Italians in the community, particularly those who are feeling lonely. They participate in prayer, cards and board games whilst enjoying hot coffee / tea and biscuits. Day trips are also organised as well as a monthly lunch. Members of the club also visit sick friends at home and at hospital.
The Italian Club also invites members of the parish to an Italian style lunch on the fourth Thursday of the month. Arturo Piccolo is the one to contact.
Nature and aims of this group: The club is organised to provide a sporting and social outlet for all members. Membership is open and new members are always welcome.
Current annual fees are:
| Senior | $ 70.00 | |
| Family | $ 140.00 | |
| Junior | $ 35.00 |
Contact information is displayed at the courts.
The club members take part in senior mid-week competitions and in both junior and senior Saturday competitions. Social play is available during daylight hours when competition play or coaching is not in progress.
